Nobel Hall, The STEAMery

Gustavus Adolphus College expanded the Nobel Hall of Science, doubling the building’s footprint and providing more space for the biology, chemistry, geography, and geology departments. To deliver additional food options to students, The STEAMery, a grab-n-go café, was added as one of the key components of the expansion.

The STEAMery is located within an open area of Nobel Hall, which meant that designers needed to complete the café with a security gate for after-hours. To secure the space, the design team selected a 3/8” Fabricoil® security screen in a Brightened Aluminum finish. The café remains visible through the semi-transparent wire fabric even when the mesh is drawn closed and secured. For staff, the system operates easily on Cascade’s sturdy and reliable Steel Secura Track attachment system.
