Portland, Oregon,
The Portland Art Museum, the seventh oldest museum in the United States, houses 50,000 objects within its two landmark buildings. Located in Portland’s cultural district, the two structures are connected by an impressive subterranean gallery.
In addition to more than 100,000 square feet of gallery space, the museum has 30,000 square feet of event space. One of those spaces, the Gordon D. Sondland & Katherine J. Durant Trustee Room, was redesigned to be a formal conference room.
The penthouse boardroom needed a high-design solar shading solution to highlight the plush furnishings and showcase the view of the park outside. Cascade’s 3/16” Fabricoil® metal mesh curtains were the perfect fit, providing a modern solution for the exterior-facing windows.
Attached to Cascade’s Steel Secura Track, the curtains can be easily opened to let in natural light and provide uninterrupted views to the outside. Alternatively, the operable Fabricoil systems can be pulled closed to provide privacy for attendees.
In terms of performance, the semi-transparent Fabricoil material helps to reduce the amount of sunlight that can enter the conference room. This mitigates thermal heat gain and minimizes glare, producing a more comfortable environment for occupants.
