The Maryland Theatre

Since 1915, The Maryland Theatre has served as an anchor of the Arts & Entertainment District in Hagerstown. The theatre seats 1,293 guests in the performance space that serves as the home to the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, Barbara Ingram School for the Arts, City Ballet School, Hagerstown Community Concert Association, Authentic Community Theatre and the Miss Maryland Scholarship Pageant.

In 2019, the theatre completed renovations on the box office and concession spaces. The expansion was designed to improve the flow of patrons into the auditorium. For the upgrade, designers selected ½” Fabricoil® from Cascade Architectural to separate the entryway and box office from the grand staircase into the auditorium.

Gliding along the Steel Secura Track, the Satin Gold powder-coated metal mesh curtains can be easily opened to welcome patrons into the space and closed to provide security and separation from the doors during performances. The box office itself also features a Fabricoil security gate for use during closed hours.

The translucent metal mesh material serves as high-end partitioning device and allows views through the material as well as providing the necessary security for the theatre when engaged, locked, and secured. Fabricoil is ideal for busy spaces and retrofits such as this because it does not require large storage pockets or heavy support systems, making it easy to both install and operate.
