Marketplace at Portland International Airport

Marketplace at Portland International Airport (PDX) is a quick-stop shop for travelers to grab on-the-go food, browse a collection of Portland-themed apparel, or pick up gear from local schools such as the University of Oregon and Oregon State.

To keep the merchandise safe when the store is closed, designers at Interbrand Design Forum selected multiple Guardian Grade Fabricoil® Security Gates.

Being located in an open area of the airport presented a challenge for designers. They needed to secure the establishment from multiple angles while still maintaining visibility of the space. Cost efficiency also played a role, and the security gate systems from Cascade Architectural allowed the team to achieve their design vision, fulfill performance criteria, and come in on budget.

Guardian Grade Fabricoil Security Gates are an innovative alternative to traditional “mall gates,” allowing customers to create flexible, operable, and durable metal mesh safety systems that go above and beyond in terms of visual appeal.

The Fabricoil systems at Marketplace at PDX are equipped with easy-operating, sliding top channels, central locking channels, and positive locking footbolt kits to secure the fabric to the floor. Fabricoil’s semi-transparency does not obstruct views like traditional security gates but the material is durable enough to help stop any intrusions.
