Hub 9

Designed by Leeb Architects, Hub 9 is a luxury apartment development in Hillsboro, OR, that serves as the center of the newly constructed Orenco Station neighborhood. Positioned directly adjacent to the train platform at Orenco Station, Hub 9 pays homage to the light rail with an arched black steel beam and large train station-themed clock directly on its facade.

The high-end, industrial aesthetic is carried over into the interior as well, where Leeb Architects specified nearly 1,300 square feet of 3/8” aluminum Fabricoil® in a Gun Metal Black finish.

The metal mesh is installed in custom curved shapes to integrate flawlessly with the winding interior design. Fabricoil curtains serve as partitions for various lounge areas throughout the apartment building’s lobby and main floor. The material, finished in a dark Gun Metal Black tone, gives lounge occupants slightly more privacy than Fabricoil in a lighter finish would. Leeb Architects preferred Fabricoil, a semi-transparent solution, over solid partitions so that they could preserve views into the lounge areas even when the curtains were fully extended.

The custom-designed, curved systems were created using Cascade Architectural’s Steel Secura Track. Secura Track is an operable system that allows for the metal mesh curtains to be drawn open or closed as desired, giving Hub 9 more flexibility with their floor plan.
