A9 Diagonale

Completed in 2019, the 195,000-sqaure-foot development known as the Diagonale is a set of eco-friendly buildings centrally located in Oslo’s vibrant new district, Bjørvika.

Its name derived from the diagonal pedestrian street bypassing the two buildings, the development is divided into two parts: A8, which houses Deichman library; and A9, which is utilized for housing, office spaces, dining, retail shops, and events.

For the interior of A9 building, architects at Lundhagem specified 1,000 square feet of 5/16” aluminum Fabricoil® to meet the project’s fall protection requirements for the interior stairways. The material was finished in powder-coated Antique Bronze, custom slope-cut, and attached to the staircase frame and railings on site.

When utilized for fall protection, Fabricoil possesses all of the safety features needed to meet code requirements while still augmenting the visual appeal of an interior space. Coiled wire fabric’s semi-transparent qualities afford spaces the perfect blend of transparency and privacy, allowing light and views through the material without providing complete visibility.
